Q: Pushpa, can you share your journey as a pottery artist in Khajuraho and the changes you've witnessed over the generations?

Pushpa Prajapati: Certainly. Our family, part of the Prajapati community, has been crafting pottery in Khajuraho for three generations now. Initially, clay was freely gathered from local ponds. Today, we spend Rs. 5000 per tractor, and timber costs have risen significantly.

Q: How do you balance your passion for pottery with the focus on your children's education?

Pushpa Prajapati: My children's education is my priority. They are enrolled in private schools. It's challenging, but their education is a key investment for our family's future.

Q: You've been involved in various orders and exhibitions. Could you elaborate on the scope of your work?

Pushpa Prajapati: We work on office orders, private orders, and even government orders. Our pottery has been displayed in the Bhopal Matikala Board, Hasta Kala Museum, and various trade fairs and exhibitions.

Q: How did you learn the art of pottery, and how does the community stay informed about initiatives like the DCH card?

Pushpa Prajapati: I learned pottery after marriage, from my husband. Our community stays informed through initiatives like the DCH card from the Rajnagar Tehsil, which helps us access valuable information.

Q: You are currently in Delhi for your husband's treatment with your twins. How do you manage your family while being involved in pottery across different places?

Pushpa Prajapati: It's a juggling act. My elder kid stays with his grandparents when we move from place to place. Family support is crucial, and it allows me to pursue my craft while taking care of my family.
